NOTE: Grand Canyon National Park remains in stage 1 fire restrictions year-round which requires that a campfire always be in a designated fire ring within a maintained campground. Inner canyon backcountry users can use gas cook stoves, but campfires and other open fires are never allowed below the canyon rim.

From Havasupai Gardens to Horn Creek and Hermit Camp.
A segment of the Plateau Point Trail, from Havasupai Gardens to the intersection with Tonto Trail West, is open for Tonto Trail users —while the remainder of the Plateau Point Trail, beyond the intersection, remains closed.
Water pipeline breaks are common, and Grand Canyon National Park recommends that hikers and runners be prepared to filter or disinfect creek water along corridor trails.
On the South Rim? It may be possible to obtain a permit at the Backcountry Information Center. Hours of operation: 8 am to noon; and 1 to 5 pm daily.
North Kaibab Trail Updates
The upper portion of the North Kaibab Trail has 6 to 8 inches of snow/ice covering the trail. Foot traction is recommended.Boots with gaiters and yak tracks, are recommended.Caution: during warmer parts of the day, avalanches can be triggered on slopes that are 30-45 degrees.
Reminder: the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park is currently closed to vehicle traffic through May 14, 2024.

Free Shuttle Bus Routes in Operation
Spring 2024 Schedules - March 1, through May 24, 2024 At this time, face masks are not required on shuttle buses.

An early morning bus that transports visitors between the village and South Kaibab Trailhead. Departs the village at 7 and 8 am during April 2024.
Kaibab Rim (Orange) Route >
Begins service at 6 am each day and runs until 30 minutes after sunset. Provides transportation from the Visitor Center Shuttle Bus Terminal to South Kaibab Trailhead, Yaki Point, Pipe Creek Overlook, Mather Point and Yavapai Geology Museum.

Hermit Road (Red) Route >

The updated vaccines should work well against currently circulating variants of COVID-19, including all Omicron variants that are currently the most prevalent, like the Eris and Priola subvariants.

The order leaves the continued wearing of masks optional for the general public for all businesses with four exceptions: early childhood education, primary and secondary schools, nursing homes and healthcare facilities, where masks are still a required precaution.
